What is a Doula?

A doula is a non-medical professional who provides physical, educational, spiritual, and emotional support to a woman and her partner during pregnancy, labor and the initial postpartum period. I will help you prepare for birth by giving you evidenced-based information so that you can make informed decisions about your care and that of your baby.

Hi!!!

My name is Crystal Sowa and I am so excited you are here! Here is a little bit about the lady behind Country Flyer Doula. I am a DONA certified Birth doula and plan to become a certified postpartum doula in early 2023. My husband and I have been together for 20 years and have 2 kiddos aged 10 and 7. We currently live in Altus, Oklahoma where my husband is stationed with the US Air Force. I have had a love for reading and crafting since I was a little girl. Our family enjoys going camping, fishing, and you guessed it; this mama brings a book to everything!

Becoming a Doula has been a dream of mine for quite a while, and I am so excited to help families have a better and more peaceful birth experience. Helping each family understand child birth and giving them the resources to make informed choices for themselves and their babies is vital to having a positive experience. My goal is to be there for each family, teach them how to make informed choices, and be a safe space to talk about and work thru each and every phase of pregnancy and birth.
